Join the ADA and Stylecraft as we launch our way into The Festival State!  We've got some juicy guest speakers, fresh and rosy from institutes and industry.

 

During the evening, Domingo Robledo, editor of (inside) Magazine, will invite each speaker to address how they embody value in their work, how they protect their creative ideas through the design process and their recommendations for how Australian copyright laws could better protect the industry.

David Caon

After graduating from the University of South Australia with a Bachelor of Industrial Design in 2000, David moved to Milan, Italy to pursue a career in design. During his time with Sowden in Milan he collaborated with designer Jerszy Seymour, whom he assisted with several exhibitions both in Milan and Paris and through whom he became acquainted with Australian designer Marc Newson. David moved to Paris in mid 2003 to work in the studio of Marc Newson until mid 2007 when he returned to Australia where he took a position as design leader for international architecture and interior design firm, Woods Bagot. After two years with Woods Bagot, David has now established his own studio dedicated to both industrial and interior design while continuing to consult to Marc Newson Limited. He also joint ventures several projects with Sydney design studio Juicy Design.

Rosina Di Maria

Rosina Di Maria trained in interior design at the University of South Australia and spent eight years working in Adelaide.  Rosina is also an illumination engineer, completing studies in Milan and Paris.  Rosina was Head of Interiors in the Woods Bagot London studio where she resided for four years, recently returning to Australia, as a Principal at Woods Bagot Adelaide.

Joanne Cys

Joanne Cys is the Immediate Past National President of the Design Institute of Australia (DIA) and Associate Professor in Interior Architecture at the University of South Australia. Joanne is a Life Fellow of the Design Institute of Australia and is Australia’s representative to the Global Design Network (GDN) and the Asia Pacific Space Designers Association (APSDA). She is a past South Australian State DIA President and past Chair of South Australian RAIA Collaborations Steering Committee. She authored the DIA’s continuing professional development policy, education policy and the Design Services section of Austrade’s Australia’s Creative Industries publication. She is a founder of the Australian Interior Design Awards program and was its inaugural jury convenor from 2004 – 2008. Joanne has been invited to speak at international and national conferences, curate design exhibitions and is a regularly invited contributor to design journals.
